HAND PROSTHESIS FOR ROI
2016

The purpose of the project was to design a hand prosthetic, custom-made for Roi, who has an unusual hand amputation. By taking into account his specific case, the prosthesis enables Roi to perform everyday tasks that he wasn’t able to beforehand. The prosthesis works using pressure. When in the relaxed state, the prosthesis is open; when he wants to use it, Roi presses the handle, which closes the prosthesis on an object and performs an action.

The prosthesis was designed as part of the “Fixperts” project and was planned in such a way that it could be produced in workshops around the world, as opposed to in complex industrial production. The materials used are widely available and the production technologies are relatively simple and accessible.
